2018 Veterans Day Schedule

The City of Winchester will operate on the following schedule in observance of the Veterans Day holiday on Monday, November 12:

City administrative offices will be closed on Monday, November 12.

WinTran will not operate on Monday, November 12.  Service resumes on Tuesday, November 13.

Recycling collection on Monday, November 12 has been moved to Wednesday, November 14. Yard waste and leaf collection is canceled on Wednesday, November 14. Click here for the 2018 holiday collection schedule.

The Joint Judicial Center will be closed on Monday, November 12.

The War Memorial Building and Rec Center in Jim Barnett Park will be open regular hours November 9-12.

A Veterans Day recognition and blood drive will be held at the Jim Barnett Park Rec Center on Friday, November 9 from 11 am-4 pm (open to the public) and include the following:

  • Giveaways for veterans.
  • American Red Cross blood drive from 11 am-5 pm. Please call 1-800-RED-CROSS or visit www.redcrossblood.org and enter “Winchester Community” to schedule an appointment.
  • Veterans can enjoy designated park programs and facilities for FREE this week through November 11. Free programs and facilities include: indoor pool, fitness room, gymnasium (during open gym times), billiards table, racquetball court (reservations recommended) and fitness classes (Yoga, Zumba, Water Aerobics, Aqua Arthritis and Water Yoga).

Metered parking in Old Town Winchester is free on Saturdays, Sundays and designated holidays including Veterans Day.

Winchester-Frederick County Visitors Center, located at 1400 S. Pleasant Valley Road, will be open on Veterans Day from 9 am-5 pm.
