Social Worker

The City of Winchester is seeking applicants for full time Social Worker who will provide and coordinate foster care prevention services to at risk and court involved youth. This position will be responsible for developing Individual and Family Service Plans, in accordance with Systems of Care and Family Team Decision Making principles. Connects families with needed resources and works collaboratively with formal and informal community supports. Interprets complex policies, laws and regulations. Testifies, as needed, in court proceedings. Participates in multi-disciplinary meetings and projects to improve community responses to at-risk youth. Must have a working knowledge of social work principles, preferably with Systems of Care and Family Team Decision Making emphasis. Must have ability to make and implement case decisions, effectively communicate both orally and in written form and produce timely and accurate case documentation, reports and court filings. Experience in the practice of social work, preferably in child protective and foster care field preferred. Possession of a Bachelors Degree in a human services related field required. Must be willing to work in a community emergency shelter in the event of natural disaster or emergency. Must have a valid driver?s license and safe driving record. Final applicants must successfully pass criminal background check, pre-employment drug screen and physical and must also submit to a Child Protective Services Central Registry Search. Must be willing to work outside normal working hours including on-call rotation. Bi-lingual skills a plus. 16.57/hr.

Education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school with some computer experience and considerable experience in operating and maintaining a water treatment facility. Holder of a Class III Water Operator's License in State of Virginia or ability to obtain same. Will consider Operator Trainee position for right candidate providing on-the-job training. A trainee would be required to obtain a Class III water license. $13.62/hr. or Trainee $11.21/hr.
