Full time position leading and directing the work of the Winchester-Frederick County Convention and Visitors Bureau (WFCCVB). Performs complex administrative and professional work developing and implementing the local strategic and operational plan of the WFCCVB; does related work as required. Work is performed under the general supervision of the volunteer Board of the WFCCVB and the Winchester Parks & Recreation Director. The successful candidate will develop and monitor the annual budget ensuring that plans and budgets comply with partners' and stakeholders' timelines and requirements. Directs and records priorities and activities of the Board. Prepares monthly reports for the Board and annual reports for the City of Winchester and the County of Frederick, VA. Promotes area attractions, tourism services and product providers. Oversees the administrative, day-to day functions of the WFCCVB office, including the operations of the visitors center and motor coach bookings. Implements specific plans to promote the region to target audiences. Represents the WFCCVB at conventions, tradeshows and meetings. Develops and maintains policies and ensures that WFCCVB activities are implemented within these established policies, guidelines, laws and ethical standards. Exercises full supervision over paid and volunteer staff. Researches national, state, and local travel/tourism "best practices." Directs the development of revenue generation, fundraising and grant writing. Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree with major work in tourism, hospitality, business management, public relations, marketing or related field is required. Applicants must have: valid driver?s license; high school diploma or equivalent; be in excellent physical condition and be a non-tobacco user. Pro Board Firefighter I certification and Virginia Department of Health Office of Emergency Medical Services EMT ? Intermediate or Paramedic certifications are preferred. Salary: $33,854/yr, plus excellent benefits package. Additional ALS Incentive offered for existing EMT ? Intermediate or Paramedic. EMT ? Intermediates and Paramedics will receive 50% ($3,000 or $3,500 per year) of the ALS Incentive added to salary upon hire; the remaining 50% will be added to salary after being cleared operationally. The written test is scheduled for FRIDAY, JULY 30, 2010, at 8:00am at the SHAWNEE VOLUNTEER FIRE COMPANY, 2210 VALOR DR., WINCHESTER VA 22601. The physical agility test will be held after the written test and on July 31 (physical agility test rain dates will be July 31 and August 1).
