Handley Regional Library System is excited to announce Later in the Library, a unique after hours event to announce the start of the 2019 Adult Summer Reading Program – It’s Showtime at Your Library!  The event is free and open to the public and takes place at Handley Library in Winchester from 7PM-9PM on May 31st.  The annual event includes beer tasting by the Better Beer Store based on popular book to screen titles including Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Silence of the Lambs, Stand By Me, and Fight Club. The entertainment continues with a magician, a LIVE jazz performance by SV Jazz, and historic tours of the famous Handley Library. 

Participants must be over 21 with a valid ID for the beer tastings.  Attendees can reserve their seat for one beer tasting (7PM, 7:45PM, or 8:30PM) and select a scheduled tour time (7PM or 7:45PM) at  Adults can also register for the Adult Summer Reading Program or apply for a library card during the event.  The Main Level of the library will be staffed during this time for patrons to check out books and other materials.

Specific details for Later in the Library include:

  • A reading-themed educational Beer Tasting by Kevin Eckles of The Better Beer Store. Beers will be based on “Books to Screen” titles including Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Silence of the Lambs, Stand By Me, and Fight Club.  Beer tastings will be at 7PM, 7:45PM, and 8:30PM with reservations available online. 
  • Behind-The-Scenes Library Tours where attendees will learn the ins and outs of our historic Handley Library building. Tours will be held at 7 PM and 7:45 PM.
  • LIVE performance by renowned local performers, SV JAZZ.
  • Magician/Mentalist J. Edward Ford will be on hand, performing his unique brand of astounding Magic and Mischief.
  • Browse and Borrow - Check out any materials (books, DVDs, CDs, Magazines, Audiobooks, etc.) located on the main floor of the Library.
  • Register for Summer Reading and get your first Reading Log.
