Welcome to the Office of the Commonwealth's Attorney for the City of Winchester, Virginia.
The Commonwealth's Attorney is an elected, constitutional, law enforcement official, independent in his duties from both City and State. The office is responsible for the prosecution of all felony cases and all misdemeanor cases required by law or court order, and the provision of legal advice to elected officials upon request. The Office provides services which support the victims and witnesses involved in the various cases handled by the Office. In addition, the Office provides consumer protection assistance to residents of the City.
The office prosecutes cases in all three courts located in the Joint Judicial Center. These courts are the Juvenile & Domestic Relations Court, General District Court and Circuit Court.

As Commonwealth's Attorney for the City of Winchester, I am concerned that the victims and witnesses of crime are treated fairly and are respected throughout the criminal justice process. There will be times when the experience may be disruptive and frustrating to you. When you are a victim or witness your assistance and testimony are important. We need your help.
The Winchester Victim/Witness Program is here to provide you with support and information. Either through direct services or referrals the program is designed to assist you during the various steps of the case. The brochure is designed to provide you with some essential information as you begin this process.
