On Saturday, June 8, 2019 from 9-11 am, Winchester Parks and Recreation will host a Park Cleanup Day to remove trash and debris from areas in Jim Barnett Park. Registration for participants will begin at 8:30 am outside the Rec Center.
“Jim Barnett Park spans over 100 acres and is a beautiful resource for residents and visitors to our community,” stated Lynn Miller, Winchester Parks and Recreation Director. “Having a park cleanup day provides an opportunity for the local residents to have a direct investment in maintaining their park.”
All Park Cleanup Day participants will receive a voucher for free admission to the outdoor pool that day for the annual Splash Bash event. Splash Bash is Winchester Parks and Recreation’s annual summer kickoff event which features a DJ and lots of pool fun from 12-4 pm. The outdoor pool and concession stand will be open from 12:00-6:45 pm.
About the Outdoor Pool
The outdoor pool in Jim Barnett Park has eight 50-meter lap swim lanes in the main pool and six 25-yard lanes in the diving well (depth varies from 3.5 feet to 11.5 feet). The main pool also has a 30-foot tall tube slide and a one-meter spring board. The zero-depth entry baby pool includes a water feature (maximum depth 1.5 feet). Lap swim times are available in the morning and general swimming is open to the public from 12:00-6:45 pm now through Labor Day. Click here for more information.
