Winchester's International Children’s Festival was created to celebrate the area’s diverse youth population. This fun and educational festival will include a long list of cultural entertainers, exhibits representing countries from around the world, interactive storytelling area, instrument petting zoo and an international food court.

All net proceeds
will be donated
to the
Winchester Parks Foundation.

Grab your passport at the door and take a trip around the world.  Visit over 20 enchanting countries and experience them through fun, educational and interactive exhibits!

Virginia Standards of Learning (SOL)

To make this festival an even better learning experience for area children, the SOLs will be included in the festival. A list of questions will be provided to participating youth. Then on the day of the festival, students will use their festival passports to visit each country and answer the questions for a prize. Keep checking back for more information (i.e. questions, instructions, etc)!

Stories From Around The World

When the children need a break from traveling around the world, they can sit down, relax and hear a fantastic story from a far off land.  International tales will be read or told all day by people from many different origins!  Organized by the Handley Regional Library.

Instrument Petting Zoo

Most children love to explore new things.  Find out how each unique instrument works, sounds, and feels.  Thanks to the Winchester Orchestra, children of all ages will be treated to an instrument petting zoo where they can become musicians and discover new musical opportunities.

International Food Court

The festival will also include many different kinds of food to enjoy:

Volunteer

There will be many opportunities for youth and adults to volunteer during the festival.  Be a part of something fun and worthwhile.

Volunteer Duties - Friday Evening

  • Friday Set Up: tables, table cloths, banners, signs and decorations
  • Friday Evening: Carry materials – help countries unload car, carry materials to their spot

  • Carry materials – help countries unload car, carry materials to their spot while parking car
  • Decorate festival area
  • Help countries set up
  • Passports and maps distribution
  • Backstage management
  • Run errands for booths
