Parking Authority to convert downtown garages to capacity parking

As of March 1, 2019, the Winchester Parking Authority will convert the George Washington Autopark, located between North Cameron and North Kent Streets, to capacity parking. This means that certain parking spaces and floors will no longer be assigned to those who lease spaces. Daily users and tenants will be able to park anywhere in the garage and on any floor.

“The Parking Authority is implementing this method at the George Washington garage, and eventually at the remaining garages, in order to maximize the availability of parking spaces during peak times and to improve customer service,” stated Facility Maintenance and Parking Division Manager. “The capacity parking system was implemented about four years ago and is working well at Braddock Autopark.”

Conversion to capacity parking at the Court Square and Loudoun Autoparks is expected to be implemented later this summer.
