Outdoor Pool

The outdoor pool is open daily during the summer (Memorial Day through Labor Day).

This facility has eight 50-meter lanes in the main pool and six 25-yard lanes in the diving well (depth varies from 3.5 feet to 11.5 feet). The main pool also has a 30-foot tall tube slide and a one-meter spring board. The zero depth entry baby pool includes a water feature (maximum depth 1.5 feet).

Indoor Pool

Winchester Parks & Recreation features a 6-lane by 25-meter competition pool that offers a wide range of lessons, classes and lap, open and therapeutic hours.

Swim Lessons (Ages 3-14)

Swim Lessons University is a child-centered, progressive swim lesson program. Each level teaches a specific set of skills that each child will need to master before moving to the next level. Classes ending in 01 are reserved for children ages 3-6 and classes ending in 02 are reserved for children ages 7-14.

Swim 101/102 - Beginner course focusing on kicking, floating and breath control. Must be able to swim 15 feet with their face in the water in order to pass the class.
Swim 201/202 - Intermediate course focusing on the formal strokes of freestyle and backstroke. Must be able to swim 25 feet using the freestyle stroke with side breathing and backstroke in order to pass the class.
Swim 301/302 - Advanced stroke course teaches more complex strokes of butterfly and breaststroke to swimmers that have mastered freestyle and backstroke. Children must be able to swim 30 feet of freestyle, backstroke, butterfly, and breaststroke in order to pass the class.
Swim 401/402 - Designed to teach the lifesaving skills such as sidestroke, elementary backstroke and treading. Also introduces competitive swim training. Must be able to swim 50 meters without stopping and complete a 50-meter IM to pass the class.

Private Swim Lessons (All Ages)

Lessons are 30 minutes long. Please remember to check in with the front desk staff before each lesson.

Competitive Swim Lessons (Ages 7-18)

This course is designed for swimmers that have completed the highest level of swim lessons, and want to expand their skills into a swim team setting. Students will learn competitive swimming skills through the use of interval training. Participants must be able to swim laps and be proficient in all competitive strokes.

Parent & Me (Ages 1-3)

Infant swim lessons are a great way to teach your child important developmental skills and have fun. This class uses natural progressions to allow infants and toddlers the ability to grow in our lesson program through the use of activities and songs.

Training Courses

Lifeguard Training (Ages 15+)

American Red Cross Lifeguard Training teaches participants the skills and knowledge they will need to prevent, recognize and respond to emergencies. With successful completion, participants will be certified for lifeguarding/CPR/AED/First Aid for two years. Attendance is mandatory at all sessions. You will be contacted to set up a pre-swim evaluation prior to the start of class.

Lifeguard Recertification (Ages 15+)

Designed for lifeguards who are currently have a valid certification and need to renew. Participants must complete the water skills, CPR/AED skills and score higher than 80% on a written test in order to pass.

CPR/AED/First Aid Course (Ages 14+)

Learn to recognize and respond to cardiac, breathing and first aid emergencies. With successful completion, participants will be certified in CPR/AED/First Aid for two years.

Red Cross Babysitting Class (11-18)

This course will prepare participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to watch and care for children and infants. The curriculum will cover leadership, safety and first aid, understanding children, and what to do in an emergency. Upon successful completion (score at least 80% on the written exams), the participant will receive a certification from the American Red Cross in babysitting and pediatric CPR/First Aid. Attendance at all sessions is mandatory.
