Residents asked to help name new community park

Tue, 09/03/2019 - 09:45

As part of the South Kent Street Improvement Project completed last month, the City created a new community pocket park on the corner of E. Cecil and S. Kent at the location of the former Ruth’s Tea Room. A historic marker will be installed to honor Ruth Jackson and her restaurant that was a staple in Winchester for 80 years (see attached draft marker).

Winchester Parks and Recreation would like the community’s help in selecting a name for the new pocket park and is requesting suggestions. The Winchester Parks and Recreation Advisory Board’s Projects and Programs Committee will review the suggestions collected and make a recommendation at the September 23 board meeting. The deadline for submitting name suggestions is September 11. Please send name ideas to Winchester Parks and Recreation Director at lynn.miller@winchesterva.gov.
