Tourism office to hold a strategic plan public input session

Fri, 11/09/2018 - 12:00

As part of the tourism strategic planning process that is currently underway, the Winchester-Frederick County Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) is asking for public input from businesses, attractions and interested residents.

A representative from Destination Consultancy Group and the CVB will be on hand at the Visitor Center from 8-10 am on Friday, December 14 to solicit comments, ideas and feedback on the future direction of tourism in the Winchester-Frederick County area.

“This is an important opportunity for us to hear from the broad array of businesses, attractions and residents here in our area,” says Justin Kerns, Executive Director of the CVB. “Our community is overflowing with creative ideas and strategic minds and incorporating that wealth of knowledge and energy into our strategic plan is critical to making this effort as relevant and meaningful as possible.”

The strategic planning process began in late September 2018 and is scheduled to conclude no later than December 31, 2018.

Anyone who cannot attend the public input session but is interested in providing feedback should contact Justin Kerns directly at (540) 542-1326 or before end of day on December 14.

The Destination Consultancy Group (DCG) was selected as the strategic plan facilitator from amongst several bids received by the Winchester-Frederick County Tourism Board earlier this year. DCG is based in Texas with an office in Canada. They have facilitated over 200 organization, destination and community strategic plans throughout the United States and Canada over the past 20 years, including nearby Loudoun County, Virginia.
