The Winchester area has been chosen as the host community for the 2019 Harley Owners Group (HOG) Annual Rally, coined as the “Curves to Cores HOG Rally.” The event, held over five days from June 19-23, 2019, will attract in excess of 2,000 attendees per day and result in an estimated direct impact of $3-$4 million in local spending.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled to be chosen as the host community,” says Justin Kerns, Executive Director of the Winchester-Frederick County Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB). “This event will not only bring a strong financial impact to our area hotels and businesses, but more importantly it will introduce the Winchester area as a return vacation destination to thousands of people across the country.”

The event, which was held last year in Roanoke and titled the “Merging Mountains HOG Rally,” is projected to fill nearly half of the entire hotel capacity in the Winchester and Frederick County area, with 1,250 rooms per night for four consecutive nights. According to Kerns, the CVB has been working with hotel properties for months leading up to today’s announcement. Participating hotels, rates and group codes will be released by the event coordinator, Jo Ann Emmons, in the months to come.

“The big selling point for the Winchester area is the uncrowded curvy roads, which are perfect for motorcycle rides,” says Jo Ann Emmons, HOG rally coordinator. “Combined with the beautiful orchards and rich apple history, it’s a perfect setting for a rally. I’m so excited to bring this event back to the area, as it has been nearly 25 years since the HOG rally has been to Winchester. The event has grown significantly since then, and so has Winchester.”

While the majority of the event is being held for the benefit of registered Harley Owners Group members, there will be a few opportunities for the public to participate in festivities. A Harley Davidson demo truck will showcase the newest models and let the public test ride a Harley Davidson, and a motorcycle parade through Winchester is being planned for the morning of June 22nd.

“The Winchester Harley Davidson dealership is proud to welcome the Harley Owners to this part of the Shenandoah Valley,” says Barbara Grove, owner of Grove’s Harley Davidson. “The motorcycle riding is nothing less than spectacular and I know they will fall in love with the scenic byways and friendly people. We are planning a big welcome party with some special guest appearances, a chance to win a new motorcycle, along with music, food and other entertainment.”

Throughout the duration of the five-day event, participants will embark on local and regional rides showcasing the unique attractions, off-the-beaten-path destinations, and beautiful countryside in the Northern Shenandoah Valley region.
