2022 Thanksgiving Schedule

The City of Winchester will operate on the below schedule in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.

City of Winchester local government offices: CLOSED November 24-25

WinTran Routes: CANCELED November 24 only

Trash Collection:

  • Thursday’s (11/24) trash collection is MOVED to Wednesday, November 23
  • City-wide Yard Waste Collection is CANCELED on November 23
  • Friday’s (11/25) trash collection will take place on the NORMAL schedule 

Jim Barnett Park Rec Center:

  • Closes at 12 pm on November 23
  • CLOSED November 24-25

Winchester-Frederick County Visitors Center: CLOSED November 24

Joint Judicial Center:

  • Closes at 1 pm on November 23
  • CLOSED November 24-25

Metered parking in Old Town Winchester: FREE November 24-27


Holiday Parade & Tree Lighting Ceremony

Date: Monday, November 28

Parade: 

Tree Lighting Ceremony with Santa: Loudoun Street Mall (1840 courthouse), immediately following the parade

Parade Parking 

The Winchester Parking Authority is offering a flat rate of $5 (credit only) for parking in any of the four downtown garages during the parade starting at 4:30 pm. Note: Patrons will not be able to exit Braddock Autopark during the parade. There are no restrictions at the three other garages.

Road Closures (beginning at 5:45 pm):

  • Braddock Street (Fairfax Lane to Cork Street)
  • Loudoun Street (Cork Street to Fairfax Lane)
  • Cameron Street (Monmouth Street to Fairfax Lane)
  • West Piccadilly Street (Braddock Street to Kent Street)
  • Boscawen Street (Braddock Street to Kent Street)
  • West Cork Street (Braddock Street to Kent Street)
  • Wolfe Street (Braddock Street to Indian Alley)
