The City of Winchester is encouraging the community to get behind a new Hearts for Heroes campaign to let local heroes know their hard work and sacrifice during these difficult times has not gone unnoticed. The campaign is simple. Community members are asked to decorate their front door or window with hearts to show their appreciation for local police officers, deputies, firefighters, EMS personnel, dispatchers, social workers, public works crews, water/sewer plant crews, custodians, doctors, nurses, medical staff, transit drivers, truck drivers, grocery store workers, restaurant workers and owners, farmers, utility workers, military personnel, teachers, and so many more. Get creative and have fun!
“Without these individuals providing essential services during the pandemic, our daily lives and welfare would drastically change,” stated Mary Beth Price, Interim City Manager. “We hope the entire community will come together to recognize these selfless and hardworking local heroes for all they do every day to serve others.”
Residents who participate are asked to proudly share a picture of their hearts on social media with hashtag #HeartsforHeroes. Together, let’s cover the city in hearts of appreciation, support and positivity.
