Sexual and Domestic Violence

Have you been hurt, abused, or felt controlled? Are you a friend, family member, or professional wondering how to help someone who has been hurt? Do you want to know more about sexual assault, stalking, controlling behavior, or making a report? Contact the Virginia Sexual and Domestic Violence Action Alliance.

The Alliance says: "Confidentiality is important. We do not record hotline calls and are not mandated reporters in Virginia. We do not share any information with others (like 911 or outside service providers) without your consent. Because we are a confidential hotline (with the ability for people to be anonymous) and want to uphold safety and security standards, advocates cannot confirm contacts, reach out to anyone without their consent, or be requested in court."

Child Victims and Witnesses Support Materials

Source: Office for Victims of Crime

For children, participating in the justice system as a victim or witness can be especially confusing, distressing, and even re-traumatizing. Child Victims and Witnesses Support Materials was created to support children and youth during their involvement with the justice system as a victim or witness to a crime.

For each age group (ages 2–6, ages 7–12, and ages 13–18), there are materials about the criminal justice system and the child welfare system. The goal of these materials is to provide effective, trauma-informed, developmentally appropriate information and support to children in a way that they can more easily understand, so they can feel informed, supported, and empowered.
