People Incorporated and Winchester Public Schools have partnered to host a Summer Birthday Party Head Start and preschool registration event

next Wednesday for families with children turning three or four years old by Sept. 30. The event will feature a free magic show, birthday cupcakes, balloons, toys and more.

Staff from People Inc.’s Winchester Head Start Center and Winchester Public Schools will be available to answer questions and begin the registration process for families interested in enrolling their children in either free program for three- and four-year-old children.

“People Inc. has been the new Head Start grantee in the area for little over a year and we are eager to get out and continue to connect with the Winchester community,” said Amy Compton, People Inc. Director of Child and Family Development. “We are looking forward to partnering with Winchester Public Schools to bring excellent early childhood education and comprehensive services to local families this school year.”

“We are so excited to meet and celebrate with more Winchester children who are ready for the fun and adventure that both Head Start and Winchester Public Schools offer our youngest learners,” said Angie Cain, early childhood coordinator at Winchester Public Schools. “We can’t wait to share more about our amazing programs and how to register your child to start school on time in August.”

The “Summer Birthday Party” will be held from 9 a.m. to noon at the Optimist Shelter at Jim Barnett Park near Pleasant Valley Road. The magic show begins at 11 am. For more information, contact Amy Compton at or 276-619-2249.
