Jim Barnett Park Dog Park is now open to the public

Mon, 04/15/2019 - 16:00

As of today, Winchester Parks and Recreation’s Dog Park in Jim Barnett Park is open and free to the public. To use the dog park in the past, owners were required to maintain an annual membership which provided a key for access. Now, the locks have been removed, and anyone can use the two dog park areas seven days a week, dawn to dusk. NOTE: The Dog Park is closed for routine maintenance every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 2-3 pm.

The two areas in the Dog Park consist of the following:

  • Small Dog Park - For dogs under 30 lbs. (no dogs over 30 lbs. are allowed in this area). Families with children under the age of 16 may use the small dog area.
  • Large Dog Park - For dogs over 30 lbs. Smaller dogs may go into the larger area at owner's discretion.

To use the dog park, dogs must have a current license and proof of vaccinations. All dog park rules still apply. Visit www.winchesterva.gov/parks/dog-park for more information.
