Long-Term Care (LTC) Medicaid coverage helps individuals with physical, mental, or emotional health conditions with services like bathing or dressing, completing daily chores, or other activities of daily living. As part of the City’s commitment to serving our residents, two City Department of Social Services (DSS) staff members are dedicated to helping Winchester community members connect with Medicaid and obtain long-term care-related services.
DSS staff are determined to help our community members overcome challenges to receive the life-changing coverage they need. For example, in May 2023, as COVID-19 pandemic policies ended, DSS staff began working closely with many community members to ensure they were re-evaluated for Medicaid coverage and did not lose critical services. In addition, DSS staff work with community members and their families even in the face of communication challenges, doing their best to simplify often complicated LTC Medicaid procedures for those that need the care. Our DSS staff care deeply about our aged and disabled community members and do everything they can to improve their lives.
