2021 Nomination Instructions

The Mayor's Excellence Award was created to recognize and honor individuals, businesses, groups or organizations whose efforts in the community have showcased the City of Winchester, VA as a great place to be; helped others in the community without hesitation or motive; made contributions or shown commitment to the betterment of the community; thought outside the box in response to societal needs; etc.

Please provide as much detail as possible in the form below. The narrative can be of any length and format. The Nominator must explain why their Nominee should be chosen to receive Mayor John David Smith's Excellence Award. 

Deadline to submit nominations is October 31. Awards will be presented at a Winchester Common Council meeting during the Mayor's Report. Winners will be notified prior to the event. 

Attention

Remember, when preparing your nomination, that the people who will be reviewing your nomination may not be familiar with your nominee. The quality of the nomination will have a direct impact on how the nominee will be evaluated. Be sure your nomination reflects your best effort and "tells the story" of the entity or person you are nominating.
