New online public comment form available for March 31 Council meetings

Thu, 03/26/2020 - 12:30

To minimize public gatherings, reduce the spread of germs, and ensure the safety of the public, City staff and Council members, the community is encouraged to watch the March 31, 2020 Council meetings online (live broadcast of these meetings will not be available on Comcast cable channel 6). The agendas and a link to watch the meetings live online can be found at

For those who would like to address Council during the Public Comments section or regarding a Public Hearing item on the agenda, please do so by using the new online comment form: (link to form is also available on the agenda portal at the above link). Comments submitted by 8 am on Monday, March 30, 2020 will be provided to Council that day. Comments submitted after that time will still be provided to Council, but they may not be read before the March 31 meeting. Comments received regarding a Public Hearing on the agenda will be read aloud prior to Council’s discussion and vote on the public hearing item. NOTE: Public Comments (re: any topic) and Public Hearings (re: specific public hearing item on the agenda) are a time for community members to address Council, not to engage in conversation or ask questions.

“We greatly appreciate our community’s understanding during these unprecedented and difficult times,” stated Mayor John David Smith, Jr. “It is always important to us that our community have the opportunity to participate in Council meetings. That is why we are offering the online public comment form which will allow residents and others to address Council while maintaining their safety and distance during this public health crisis.”
