The City will hold a public input open house on Monday, December 17 from 6:30-8:00 pm to solicit feedback from residents and community partners concerning the next Winchester Fire and Rescue Chief. City residents, organizations and business owners are invited and encouraged to attend.
The open houses will be held in the Shawnee Volunteer Fire Station Social Hall (corner of Valor Drive and Weems Lane) and will be led by representatives from GovHR USA, the Northbrook, IL firm helping with the nationwide recruitment effort. During the public input session, the following will be discussed:
- Professional characteristics and experience desired in the next Fire and Rescue Chief
- Priority public safety issues
The City will use the information gathered during these public input sessions when reviewing applications and interviewing candidates.
“Chief Baldwin is leaving some big shoes to fill, and we want to make sure we hire the right professional to be our next Fire and Rescue Chief,” stated City Manager Eden Freeman. “Gathering input from the community and our public safety personnel is a critical step in this process.”
