Volunteers In Policing
The Winchester Police Department's Citizen Police Academy provides local residents with an inside look at local law enforcement operations and challenges. Graduates are eligible (but not required) to apply to become a member of the Volunteers in Policing (VIP) Program.
Be prepared to help yourself, your family, your neighbors, your community in an emergency or disaster.
If you live in Winchester or Frederick County you are invited to become a member of the Community Emergency Response Team. Citizens who attend and complete the training program will meet the criteria to assist and support 1st responders during and after a major emergency or disaster situation. Classes will be held monthly based on the minimum and maximum class size.
UPDATE: Program Suspended (as of May 2022)
Volunteer Fire Companies
Becoming a volunteer EMT/firefighter or administrator with one of our four volunteer stations provides you with an opportunity to get acquainted with fire and rescue techniques and activities.
In the City, the volunteer companies own all the fire and rescue apparatus and stations. Each station and the volunteers are a tremendous asset to this community. To learn more about how to get involved, please visit one of Winchester's four volunteer fire stations.
