Winchester Fire and Rescue Chief William Garrett has submitted his resignation effective June 2, 2020.
“After a year with the City of Winchester, I’ve decided to exercise my option to resign without prejudice,” stated Chief Garrett. “The City and the men and women in the Winchester Fire and Rescue Department have been a joy to serve.”
Chief Garrett began service with the Winchester’s Fire and Rescue Chief on June 3, 2019 after serving 30 years with the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department.
“I’ve only had the opportunity to work with Chief Garrett for a short period of time, but I have greatly appreciated his hard work and leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic,” stated Interim City Manager Mary Price. “I wish him all the best in his future endeavors.”
Ms. Price anticipates the recruitment process for selecting a permanent chief will be announced soon.
