Ms. Herbstritt is a local small business owner, operating Shady Knoll Mushroom Farm LLC. In addition, she has a long history of service with nonprofits in leadership and management roles. In November 2018, she was elected to the Common Council and was elected Council President in January 2023. Ms. Herbstritt holds a degree in psychology with honors from California State University, Long Beach and a Master of Arts in Nonprofit Leadership and Management from the University of San Diego. She is a graduate of the Community Leadership Program at the Top of Virginia Region Chamber and completed the City's INSIGHT Citizen’s Academy.
