Memorial Day Schedule

Monday, May 25: City offices, Winchester Transit, the Park Rec Center, and Courts are closed.

City-wide, trash and recycling will be collected one day later than usual this week, and yard waste collection is canceled.

Trails and Natural Areas

Sensory Trail

Jim Barnett Park has a Sensory Trail near the Arboretum thanks to the efforts of the Winchester Host Lions Club, which first installed the trail in 2021.

Green Circle Trail

The Winchester Green Circle project provides safe facilities and accommodations for both bicyclists and pedestrians to access major destinations in the city.

Abrams Creek Wetlands Preserve

The 25-acre Abrams Creek Wetlands Preserve in Winchester, VA is a calcareous muck fen and home to over 300 plant species and 180 kinds of birds.

Shawnee Springs Trail and Preserve

The Shawnee Springs Trail is a 0.26-mile long trail is located between downtown Winchester and Jim Barnett Park in the 14-acre Shawnee Preserve.

Arboretum

The Arboretum, located between Pleasant Valley Road and Maple Drive in Jim Barnett Park, features approximately 40 species represented in approximately 100 trees.

Kiwanis Par Course

Jim Barnett Park features a one-mile fitness trail consisting of 18-exercise stations of varying levels of performance including stretching, aerobic, and muscle toning stations.
