Lace up your high-tops and get ready for an action-packed week of basketball! This camp gives every player the chance to learn the fundamentals, sharpen their skills, and grow as an athlete. Camp is led by Zach Harrell-Zook, along with high school and college players and coaches. Zach is the President of the Basketball Coaches Association of Virginia and has guided the Handley Judges to back-to-back state tournament Final Fours and this year secured their first ever state championship. Campers will also enjoy special appearances from FASST Sports Performance to enhance athleticism, as well as leadership and character workshops from Lead ‘Em Up, a nationally recognized leader in youth development. There’s nothing your child won’t gain at this camp!

Join the Handley Judges Girls Softball coaching staff for an exciting summer camp designed to help young players improve their softball skills and understanding of the game. Campers will focus on fundamentals including hitting, fielding, throwing, base running, and game situations through drills, instruction, and fun competitions. This camp is a great opportunity for players to learn the game while building confidence and teamwork on the field. Participants must have athletic shoes and a glove and are encouraged to bring any additional softball equipment they have.

This camp is designed for beginner to intermediate players looking to build a strong foundation in the game. Players will learn and develop fundamental skills including stroke production (forehand, backhand, volley, serve, and overhead), court movement, footwork, rallying, scoring, and basic singles and doubles strategy. Camp is instructed by JHHS Tennis Assistant Coach Seth Walrath, assisted by Sarah C. Walrath (4th Grade Teacher, John Kerr Elementary) and Handley Varsity Tennis players. Combining the non-stop movement and athletic endurance of soccer with the aerial passing skills of football, a game of Ultimate Frisbee is played by 2x seven-player squads with a high-tech plastic disc on a field similar to football. The object of the game is to score by catching a pass in the opponent's end zone. Teams must have a minimum of 7 players with a maximum cap of 14 players. Individual Registration.

Kick off the Park After Dark series with a fun, late-night Ultimate Frisbee hat tournament! Players will register individually and be placed on randomly formed teams before games begin. This event is open to all skill levels and is a great way to enjoy the game, meet new people, and compete in a relaxed, social atmosphere under the lights. Inspired by traditional Colombian “rumba aeróbica,” this energetic group fitness class combines cardiovascular exercise, Latin music, and easy-to-follow dance movements in a fun and welcoming environment. Participants will move to rhythms such as salsa, merengue, bachata, cumbia, reggaetón, champeta, and other tropical styles while improving cardiovascular endurance, coordination, balance, mobility, and body awareness. The class also promotes stress relief, confidence, social connection, and overall well-being through continuous full-body movement and motivating group interaction. No previous experience is required.

Rumba Latin Dance Sessions

This high-energy cardiovascular class is inspired by traditional Latin American aerobic training and combines dynamic movements, choreographed sequences, and upbeat electronic and Latin music in a fun and motivating environment. Participants will improve cardiovascular endurance, coordination, balance, agility, and motor memory through continuous full-body movement patterns. The class also helps stimulate concentration, reaction speed, spatial awareness, and proprioception while providing an energetic workout experience ideal for those who enjoy rhythm-based and choreography-focused fitness classes.

Please bring a yoga mat and yoga blocks if you wish to use them.

Zumba: Enjoy a total body workout using the most popular music. Zumba burns calories, tones muscles, improves balance, and incorporates a full range of motion.

Zumba Toning: All the fun of Zumba with the addition of light weights for a total body workout.

This class includes a variety of cardiovascular activities, which may include kickboxing, aerobics, plyometrics and resistance training for a workout that can be tailored to accommodate all fitness levels. You will experience intervals of high intensity to low intensity. Interval training is scientifically known to burn calories long after the workout is over.

This class will incorporate weights, resistance bands and more to increase strength, and tone muscles. This class is for all fitness levels.

Seated Fitness is a group exercise class designed for the individual that prefers seated exercise. This class will include low impact exercises designed to increase mobility and functional fitness from a primarily seated position. Exercises may include the use of bands, balls, and small hand weights. Participants should expect to have fun while improving their overall health. All ages and fitness levels welcome.

During Drop In Play, the gymnasium is available to anyone wanting to drop by the Recreation Center to play the designated sport. Equipment is available if needed. Anyone entering the gym must pay the daily fee or have a membership. Schedule is subject to change based on gym availability.

All participants must have a valid Turf Access Punch Pass (TAPP) card with them to enter the complex. TAPP cards are available for purchase at the Rec Center during regular business hours. The Rec Center has one indoor court that can be used for racquetball, wallyball, or badminton. Court reservations can be made seven calendar days in advance for no more than two hours at a time. Reservations are recommended.

The Rec Center "Work Zone" Fitness Room provides weights, dumbbells, barbells, machines, treadmills, and ellipticals. The main room was completely renovated in Fall 2023 and an additional room was added in late Spring 2024.

• Ages 14-16 must be accompanied by an adult 18+.
• Spectators are not permitted without prior WPRD approval.
• Attire must follow WPRD fitness policy, and all policies are strictly enforced.

Outdoor Pickleball

Disc Golf

WPRD's 18-hole disc golf course is located within Jim Barnett Park and is available to play for FREE! Discs are available at the Rec Center, if needed. The course meanders through 170 acres of park land and boasts a balance of long, challenging holes and short, strategic holes. Tee boxes are clearly marked with full-color hole maps and permanent colored squares in the concrete.

NOTICE: April 2026: Holes 14 & 15 will be inaccessible for several months while a project to restore Abrams Creek takes place.

UPDATE: May 2026: Holes 14 & 15 have been aligned and are now playable. Hole 14 is located by the horseshoe pits. Hole 15 is located in the amphitheater (throwing uphill from tee boxes). Tee boxes are marked at each location, We appreciate everyone's patience during the Abrams Creek project that took old 14 and 15 out of commission. Want to know more? Visit the project page.
