Swim Lessons

We proudly offer swim lessons in both a group and private setting for all ages and abilities. Lessons are led by certified swim instructors in our heated indoor pool. Locker rooms and showers are available. Class size varies on availability of instructors.

Note: Make up classes are not offered unless class is cancelled by WPRD.

Registrations are processed through CommunityPass. Individuals and Families are required to create an account in order to register. Phone registrations will not be accepted. Registration opens at 5:30 a.m. on the specified date for each session.

Parent and Tot

Parent & Tot (P&T) - Provides a joyful, loving, child-centered environment featuring songs and activities to encourage skill acquisition while also developing a lifelong love of the water.

Requirements:

  • Parents must be in the water with the student.
  • Swim diapers are required.
  • Ages: 9 months - 2 years.

Fees:

100 Level

Swim 101/102/103 (Beginner) - Focuses on kicking, floating and breath control. Must be able to swim 15 feet with their face in the water in order to pass the class. Recommended for students who have never taken a swim lesson before, are uncomfortable in the water, or have aged out of the P&T course.

Swim 101 (ages 3-5)

Swim 102 (ages 6-8)

Swim 103 (ages 9-14)

200 Level

Swim 201/202/203 (Swim Strokes) - Intermediate course focusing on the formal strokes of freestyle (front crawl) with side breathing and backstroke.

Requirements:

  • Must have passed one of the 100 level courses, OR
  • Be comfortable submerging under water three times in a row and swimming 15-25 feet unassisted.

  • RDF: $22; Fee: $25 (4 Saturday lessons)

Swim 201 (ages 3-5)

Swim 202 (ages 6-8)

Swim 203 (ages 9-14)

300 Level

Swim 301/302/303 (Advanced Swim Strokes) - Focuses on the more complex breaststroke and butterfly. Students will also refine and master freestyle and backstroke.

Requirements:

  • Must have passed one of the 200 level courses, OR
  • Be able to independently swim freestyle with side breathing and swim backstroke for 25 feet.

  • RDF: $22; Fee: $25 (4 Saturday lessons)

Swim 301 (ages 3-5)

Swim 302 (ages 6-8)

Swim 303 (ages 9-14)

400 Level

Swim 401/402/403 (Lifesaving Swim Strokes) - Designed to teach the lifesaving skills such as sidestroke, elementary backstroke and treading. All four previous strokes will be included, with refinement and mastering of the breaststroke and butterfly.

Requirements:

  • Must have passed one of the 300 level courses, OR
  • Be able to perform freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly independently for 30 feet.

  • RDF: $22; Fee: $25 (4 Saturday lessons)

Adult Lessons

Adult Swim Lessons - Have you wanted to learn how to swim or to just work on the basics? If so, adult swim lessons are for you! This program creates a fun environment for adult beginners who want to learn how to swim.

Fees: RDF: $22; Fee: $25 (4 lessons)

Adult Lessons (ages 15+)

Private Swim Lessons

Private Swim Lessons are for students of any skill level who wish to have a tailored experienced to meet personal goals. Lessons are 30 minutes long. Instructors are subject to change based on availability.

Fees: RDF: $57; Fee: $64 (4 lessons)

Private Lessons (all ages)

Competitive Swim School and Clinics

Competitive Swim School: For those with a basic understanding of freestyle and backstroke who are comfortable with their face in the water. Explore competitive swimming while gaining lifelong water skills.
Note: This program is taught by an approved vendor.

Fees: $150

Competitive Swim School (ages 7-12; 12-18)

Swim Clinics: For swimmers wanting to develop proper stroke technique in all four competitive strokes. In addition, the improvement of starts and turns will also be a focus. This clinic is designed for competitive swimmers or those who are considering competitive swimming. All swimmers should have a strong grasp of freestyle and backstroke, and an understanding of breaststroke and/or butterfly.
