Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (42 U.S.C. Section 2000d) prohibits discrimination based on race, color, or national origin in programs and activities receiving Federal financial assistance. Specifically, Title VI provides that "no person in the United States shall, on the ground of race, color, or national origin, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance" (refer to 49 CFR Part 21).
As a recipient and/or sub-recipient of federal funds, the City has developed policies, programs, and practices that ensure that such funds are used in a manner that is nondiscriminatory, as required under Title VI.

The City gives this assurance in consideration of and for obtaining any Federal grants, loans, contracts, agreements, property, and/or discounts, or other Federal aid and Federal financial assistance extended after the date hereof to the recipients.
