Child Welfare Worker Appreciation
Meet some of our Family Services Specialists and see why they love what they do for local families.
"I enjoy my job because we are helping people be better parents, raising healthier children, which ultimately strengthens the community. It's not always thankful work. There are many late nights and missed family dinners. Sometimes though, it's all worth it. A couple of weeks ago, I was at the courthouse and, by chance, ran into a family I used to work with. They were at the courthouse, because the grandmother was giving legal and physical custody of the children back to mom, due to mom's continued progress. Their case was closed six months ago and it was inspiring to see that six months later, she continues to maintain her sobriety and ended up regaining custody of her children. That's the goal. That's the satisfaction of this work." ~ Lindsey O.
"I do this job because I want to make a difference in people's lives. The best feeling in the world is when you meet a family that is in crisis and after their hard work, they come out on the other side with a positive change to their lives. It's the most rewarding thing ever to see." ~ Cheyenne S.
"Children who have experienced abuse and/or neglect are more than likely to practice the same child rearing practices that may cause abuse and/or neglect of their own children. I enjoy engaging with and applying services to help families break the cycle and make a change to end generational abuse and neglect trauma." ~ Marisa W.
