The City is replacing failing culverts and relocating utilities beneath Millwood Avenue while VDOT advances bridge and roadway improvements; including turn lanes, intersection reconstruction, and pedestrian enhancements, to improve drainage, safety, and traffic flow along this critical corridor.

Millwood Culvert Improvements

The City is replacing aging and failing culverts beneath Millwood Avenue that carry Abrams Creek, while relocating utilities underground to improve long-term reliability and corridor appearance. This preventive infrastructure project will enhance drainage performance, roadway safety, and support future improvements along this heavily traveled corridor.

 

VDOT Millwood Ave. Traffic Improvements

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is reconstructing the Millwood Pike bridge and implementing roadway improvements including additional turn lanes, intersection modifications, and enhanced pedestrian crossings near Shenandoah University. These upgrades are designed to improve traffic flow, safety, and connectivity along one of the region’s busiest corridors.
