City of Winchester Announces Changes to Trash and Recycling Collection
Published on June 16, 2025
The City of Winchester will implement a new trash, recycling, and yard waste collection schedule starting Monday, July 7, 2025. The new schedule will streamline operations, make service more convenient for residents, and reduce costs to taxpayers.
Under the new plan, trash and recycling will be collected on the same day (by separate trucks), with collection days now determined by voting ward:
- Ward 1: Mondays
- Ward 2: Tuesdays
- Ward 3: Wednesdays
- Ward 4: Thursdays
To help accommodate our new “holiday slide schedule”, all yard waste will now be picked up citywide on Fridays.
All Old Town collection schedules (trash and recycling) will remain the same.
Additionally, the City will continue to observe a “holiday slide schedule” for weeks in which a recognized City holiday falls on a weekday. During those weeks:
- Trash and recycling collections scheduled on or after the holiday will shift one day later than usual.
- Yard waste collection will be canceled for the week.
“This new schedule is part of our continued effort to improve efficiency, save money, and make life easier for our residents,” said Public Services Director Perry Eisenach. “By aligning collection days by ward and consolidating yard waste to one day, we can better serve the community and manage resources more effectively.”
