Annual Cleanup Days

Clean-Up Days June 2026-7.jpg

Do you have old paint cans, Grandma’s couch taking up space in the basement, old electronics, and construction debris from that DIY project you finished last summer? The City’s trash trucks usually cannot pick up this type of waste curbside, and we understand it can create clutter and headaches for our residents.

The City of Winchester is excited to announce our annual cleanup days! Once a year, each Ward will have its own designated cleanup day to help keep our City beautiful. Residents with regular trash service can put out those troublesome items we usually cannot collect curbside on cleanup days and watch their junk be removed—at no extra charge!

If you’re interested in more opportunities to keep our City beautiful, check out our Pickup Parties, neighborhood cleanup events in our parks and green spaces, held on the first Thursday of each month from April to November.

Key Details

  • Register ahead of time so we can plan accordingly. Registration ends at 11:59 p.m. the day before your ward’s designated cleanup day.
  • Please place items curbside by 6:00 a.m. on your scheduled day, but do not put them out more than 24 hours beforehand.
  • When setting out items, make sure they do not block sidewalks, streets, mailboxes, or driveways.
  • Collection might take up to a week, so it’s normal if all items aren’t gone on your cleanup day. Different types of trash, like old paint cans and a couch, could be picked up separately by different trucks.
  • Your regular trash, recycling, and yard waste collections will continue as usual using your designated carts and bins.
  • When we say we’ll pick up anything, we mean it! You can set out furniture, construction debris, boards, drywall, insulation, pipes, scrap metal, tires, tanks, motor oil, gasoline, paint, car batteries, fluorescent lights, and electronics.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do I need to label my stuff for it to be picked up? NO! Just fill out the registration form above and leave it on the curb.
  • Do small things need to be bagged up? You can, but bagging items is not required.
  • Will I get bins back if I put my trash in them? It's best to assume that if you've left it on the curb, we'll treat it as trash to be hauled away.
  • I don't want anyone on my property. How do I make sure no one comes on it looking for trash? We won't come onto your property to get your trash. The furthest we'll go is reaching from the sidewalk to collect an item that has been left for removal.
  • I put my trash out on Monday, and now it's Thursday, and some of it is still there. What's going on? Since we're taking anything and everything during Annual Cleanup Days, we'll be running different trucks to collect different types of trash. It could take us up to two weeks to collect everything that has been set out. If two weeks have passed, please call us at (540) 773-1340.
